Burdur, an important city in the Western Mediterranean Region in terms of its natural beauty and cultural richness, has revealed through research conducted in the late 19th and early 20th centuries that these parts of Southwestern Anatolia have been inhabited since prehistoric times. This phase is confirmed by excavations carried out at the Hacılar, Kuruçay, and Höyücek mounds located within the borders of our province. The history of our province, which dates back to 7000 BCE, demonstrates that settlement, an integral part of social life, extends back 9,000 years. This is significant not only for our province but also for the cultural history of Anatolia.
